Michigan Metal Worker Kills Co-worker With....Sword?

Last night, a Detroit metal plant worker was killed with a bona-fide sword. The 30-year-old murderer fashioned a sword at work, and killed a 40-year-old man because he was bullying him around. You may ask yourself what the source of this bullying was. Witnesses told the police that the suspect was way into "fantasy board games." If you work at a metal plant (and are over 15-years-old) and let the fact that you play Dungeons and Dragons run rampant upon the workplace, you are pretty much asking for a jail-sentence (which he received when the police found him at the scene of the crime, drinking beer).

More Christopher O'Riley?

"True Love Waits" was an album full of piano covers of Radiohead songs from Christopher O'Riley, released in 2003. It featured such greats as Blackstar, Fake Plastic Trees, Exit Music, and my favorite Radiohead song, Motion Picture Soundtrack. After such a great response, Christopher O'Riley has decided to release a second volume of Radiohead covers, creatively entitled "Christopher O'Riley Plays Radiohead." This release will include 2+2=5, Sail To The Moon, Street Spirit, and my favorite off of The Bends, Nice Dream. Look forward to this release in 2005.

New Grandaddy Video

Head on over to Antville to watch the new Grandaddy video for their unreleased song, "Nature Anthem." The song is exceptionally catchy, and the video is filled with people dressed in animal costumes, a la The Flaming Lips live show. "Nature Anthem" appears on Grandaddy's lead singer's recently released Mixtape, which also features Snow Patrol, Pavement, Beck, and Beulah. The song will apparently be released on Grandaddy's next LP, which should drop sometime in the spring of 2005.

Flight Of The Phoenix Remake?

After Team America was hyped up so much by my friends Rivers and Trent, I decided to go out and see it the past Saturday night. Before being majorly let down, I was treated to a few trailers. One of the trailers was for the remake of the 1965 classic, Flight Of The Phoenix. I was taken aback by the actors featured in the movie: Tyrese and Dennis Quaid. That's not where the all-star cast ends -- it also features STICKY FINGAZ. Sticky Fingaz pretty much totally rids the movie of any potential it had at any point. If you are really looking for a rollercoaster ride of a movie, rent the original; you will not be disappointed.

Stars' New Album?!

Apparently, Stars released their brand new album, Set Yourself On Fire, last week in Canada. While this may sound good, it really isn't -- it won't be released anywhere else until 2005. I'm not sure how much imports from Canada would cost, but it would be so much more convenient if Arts & Crafts had decided to just go ahead and release it to all of North America. Hopefully I will be able to find a few mp3s to tide me over before the release.

[NOTE: If you are very eager to hear new Stars, you can download "Ageless Beauty." It sounds much more rock-ier than anything off of Heart, which I suppose could be a good change (considering they haven't totally revamped their style).]

Kings of Convenience Videos

Kings of Convenience have released their first single from their recent album, Riot On An Empty Street, today. The single, Misread, is the second track on the album, and is very quiet, just like most of their other songs. The video pretty much goes along with the song perfectly, illustrating a nice quiet picnic. Check it out here.

For those of you who think that their entire catalogue of music is mind-numbingly boring, go here and check out their video for “I’d Rather Dance With You.” Not only is it a fairly catchy song, I think it is a contender for video of the year.

If you liked those videos, you can go here and watch all of their other ones, too.

New Superman

The actor set to play Superman in the new Superman movie has been cast. Brandon James Routh has apparently been confirmed by a Warner Bros. rep that he is in fact the new Superman. No other actors have been cast as of yet. The announcement of the casting should pop up in the news sometime within the next few weeks.

Walking In The Sun Video

Travis have just released their new video for Walking In The Sun, with the single being released tomorrow. The song is good in my opinion, with a nice wandering bass line. It is a vast improvement upon their last album, 12 Memories. You can also go to their official website, and stream the new song.

Broken Social Scene Nearing Completion With Third Album

THE Canadian band, Broken Social Scene, are nearing completion with their untitled third album. The band says that it will probably wrap up recording on the album by the end of this year, with it being released around March or April. Brendan Canning of BSS says that the album will be heavier on the horns, one of my favorite parts of BSS. The group is currently getting ready for a month-long European tour, and a couple of New York shows in mid-December (one with them opening up for The Pixies).

Franz Ferdinand in next Harry Potter?

Franz Fedinand have been asked to write some music for the upcoming Harry Potter film. They are even thinking of having a cameo in the film, a la Ian Brown. This could turn out to be very neat.

The Roots - 10/15/04

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to see The Roots in concert. It took place in Tuscaloosa, AL, as a part of the University of Alabama homecoming festivities (the festivities also included a bonfire, which was amazing in itself). It was a free show, so I decided to go along for the ride with my friends Rivers, Sean, Rollie, Britney, and Honoré.

I do not joke when I say that this was the best show that I have ever attended. The show was so unbelievable, I really don't know what to say or how to describe it. The high point for me was when they performed Break You Off, from their album Phrenology. The rap medley, with songs from Salt-n-Pepa and Usher was entertaining, as was their version of Black Betty. If you EVER have a chance to see this band, do so. You will not be disappointed.

Blogger = Unreliable.

Unfortunately, for you, my loyal readers, Blogger has been acting very strange for me. It will not allow me to read any Blogger weblogs, let alone post anything on my own. It has decided to work today, so I will continue on with new posts, considering it doesn't screw up on me again.
